Tourist Arrivals Skyrocket During Jakarta’s 499th Anniversary Celebrations

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung noted a massive surge in public excitement as crowds flocked to the city's landmarks for Jakarta’s 499th Anniversary.

We are welcoming visitors from everywhere

To make the festivities even more accessible, the Jakarta government rolled out special discounted fares across all city-run public transport.

"We are welcoming visitors from everywhere to make the most of Jakarta’s recreational assets—from Ragunan and Ancol to Monas, as well as our museums and sports complexes,” he expresser, at Jakarta City Hall, Monday (6/29).

Visitor numbers skyrocketed across several tourist hotspots. Ragunan Zoo alone saw a massive turnout of over 135,500 people on Sunday (6/28).

"Our previous record stood at 113,000 from the last New Year. We’ve now hit 135,500. This is a clear sign that the community is truly embracing and enjoying what the city has to offer,” he remarked.

Ancol also saw record-shattering crowds, a testament to initiatives that are expertly planned to serve the community. Pramono noted, many visitors at Ragunan traveled from outside the city, taking advantage of the Rp 1 transit fare and free admission to city landmarks.

"This combination is why we’ve seen historic records broken everywhere," he remarked.

With Jakarta’s historic 500-year anniversary on the horizon, the city is gearing up for even bigger and better celebrations. Pramono revealed that for the city’s fifth centenary, the government aims to enhance the travel experience for families from outside Jakarta.

"We want to make sure that visitors during the school break can enjoy the capital even more conveniently," he emphasized.
